Opening Worship: Church School Classes & Youth Group All Together
Brief gathering, at 9:15 a.m., Sundays, in the Chapel for opening prayers, theme of the day, song, and sign-in. Led by the Clergy and Youth Group members.
Music: Singing is a major way of learning and expressing the faith. There will be singing sessions as part of the weekly classes of the students Pre-K through 4th Grade. These will prepare for singing in Church, especially on Youth Sundays.
Music Coordinator: Michelle Bromfield
Youth Sundays: We will have four Sundays, during the September through May school year, in which the 10:30 a.m. Sunday liturgy will be planned by and led by our Church School and Youth Groups. We want to develop among our youth a strong sense that this is their Parish. Our first Youth Sunday this season will be All Saints’ Sunday, October 31, 2010.
Sunday School (Pre-K through 7th Grade): Sunday, 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.
After the Opening Worship, students move into small groups with a teacher. In this setting we use an Episcopal Bible-based curriculum – “Living the Good News” -- that connects to the Scripture that will be read in Church.
Teachers: Pre-K – 1st Grade: Debbie Ann Simpson
2nd – 4th Grades: Alma Clarke
5th – 7th Grades: Kemi Soyeju & Katrina Gomes
Youth Group (Grades 8th through 12th): Sunday, 9:15 to 10:15 a.m.
Youth Group members will take on a number of leadership roles in helping with Opening Worship, and also leadership for Youth Sundays. The group will use the text “30 Life Principles” by Charles F. Stanley as a basis of considering how to relate faith to everyday life.
Advisers: Dana Gomes & Clearson Martin
